Who can participate?

 

Child Care Homes

 

Any child care home providing care for children may participate in the Child and Adult Care Food Program provided the following requirements are met:

 

The childcare home:

 

-licensed or meets alternate approval standards with regards to health/sanitation and fire safety.


-CPR and First Aid Certified

 

-provides in home day care for children from birth to 12 years of age and follows the CACFP requirements and guidelines.


-maintains menus and meal counts.


-satisfies income eligibility requirements for provider’s own children.


-meets ratio requirements: no more than 6 children at any one time. no more than 4 children for pay and 2 without pay. (all 6 children can be cared for without pay but no more than 4 with pay unless you have a license from DES/DHS/Tribal Authority stating otherwise).

-provides care for children who do not live in the home.

-open for authorized home visits.

 

Child Care Centers

 

All Child Care Centers must meet the following requirements:

 

l            The center is licensed or approved.

l            The organization is one of the following:
-a public institution.
-a non-profit organization (as determined by the I.R.S. Code of 1954).
-a private for-profit organization receiving title XX benefits for at least 25% of its enrollees or license capacity (whichever is less).

l            The center is an operating adult care center.

 

Adult Care Centers

 

Any adult day care organization providing non-residential care for adults may participate provided the following requirements are met:

 

l            The center is caring for aged (60 years or older) or functionally impaired adults .

l            The center is licensed by the appropriate licensing authority.

l            The organization is a public institution, or is a private non-profit organization as determined by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), code of 1954.

l            The organization is a private for-profit organization and receives title XIX or title XX benefits for at least 25% of its enrollees or licensed capacity, whichever is less.
